A person shows up to your house and says they have extra asphalt from a job down the street. They offer to pave your driveway for a really good deal since its leftover asphalt. While feeling the pressure from the salesman on the spot, you agree to have your driveway paved. With no paperwork stating how much material and thickness needed to cover your driveway. No proper preparation work needed like grinding/milling or tear out and removal. They just pave over top of your driveway as is. Most of the time they do not lay down Tacker to help bond the old and new asphalt together.
These "outta towners" come through Ashtabula looking for quick easy work. Most of the time they don't even have a company name on any trucks or equipment, let alone employee uniforms. They don't have an office in Ashtabula or a phone number in the phone book. Months later when you see your driveway falling apart you have nobody to call and question the work completed.
At the end of the day, people pay the same amount of money or more for the asphalt driveway. Most cases these "outta towners" do not properly install the correct thickness needed to properly work. They spread a thin layer of asphalt overtop of the driveway, it looks decent, until you drive your vehicle on it over time and it chips up.
